4.02am Atomic Jam. This place is bloody amazing. Those luminous spiky things hanging from the ceiling. The dancers hanging from the balcony. And Dave Angel (right) playing the best records I've ever heard. And I don't even like techno
4.407am Grooverider is thumping his way through the outer drum n' bass limits while Fabio looks on approvingly from the sidelines. The whole room is bouncing up and down in time. It's odd house crowds sway like fish, this lot look like antelopes
4.55am Things are getting hectic. The MC revs everyone up in the main room, and the front three rows look like they're competing for the Guinness Book Of Gurns. The rest of the crowd is a right mixture, from dolly birds to blokes in masks
5.25am Go outside and have fag. Not tired anymore. Actually feel quite spannered. "Maybe they put something in the smoke machine and pumped it onto the dancefloor," says the photographer. Yeah, maybe... or it could be those pills we did four hours ago
Dave Angel on Atomic Jam
"I rate it very, very highly. It's got a great sound-system, always has good backdrops, it's always mobbo, and the people like everything from funky techno, to hard drum n' bass. You've also got to look at its lifespan: some clubs come and go, but Atomic's been going since time and it's still there. On a scale of one to ten, I'd give it ten. "
