Techno Link Rules   [ english | deutsch ]

When making an entry into this databank, please observe the following rules. These uniform rules were composed to make searches in the Techno Links easier for everyone.

1) Techno Rules
These Techno links are for Techno links and only Techno links. That means no dance sites and no discos/clubs with mixed playlists.
We are unable to check every site and since URL contents change from time to time, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you find invalid or improper addresses in the Techno links so we can get rid of them (links@techno.de).
2) Add Links
Fill in your new URL. With or without "http://" is okay. Then click on ADD to be sure that
a) your URL has been entered and
b) the address is valid
The title of the new site will be entered in the "Name" field.
2.1) Your URL:
You may not correct your URL once it appears in this window. Clicking on this link will only open a new window with this address.
2.2) Name:
Enter the title of your URL here. Keep your entry short and precise. Please do not add anything like "Welcome to ..." or "... Online," "... Homepage" etc. Explanatory remarks, such as "... - the ultimate Techno club" belong in the "Description" field, not in the title. Please begin all titles with a capital letter.
2.3) Category:
Enter the category your link falls under here. Your choices are:
Artist: DJs, Live Acts, Performers, Booking Agents
Club/Party: Clubs, Raves, Events, Parades and reports about any of these
Distribution: Techno Sales and Marketing
Drugs: On the subject of drugs
Fashion: Designers, Shops
Graphic: Exclusively Agents and Graphic Design Artists who make Flyers or Techno Mags
Homepage: If no other category applies. Mostly small private pages
Label: Techno Label
Magazine: Fanzines (in print or just online) with at least one permanent Techno Section
Radio/TV: Stations or individual Programs
Record Store: Real Stores, Mail Order, or Online Order with a separate category for Techno
Site: Multiplatforms with multiple categories (ex: Techno.de)
Technology: Studio/DJ - Equipment - Software - Shops
2.4) Country:
Enter the country where your link is based here. This field will be filled in automatically according to your top-level domain name. Only the top-level domains COM, NET, EDU or ORG may choose a country.
Exception: in the case of unofficial Pages (ex: Prodigy Fanpage), the country of the artist applies, not the Page's Operator.
2.5) Description:
Enter an objective description of the offer or site content here. Please avoid evaluative remarks ("the best ...," "the hardest ..."). For Techno Links' Search Functions to work properly, you must enter any subjects or keywords you want to apply to your site.
For example: city names, (sub)label names, DJ/Artist names, etc.
2.6) Your (Nick)Name:
Enter your birth name or your nickname here. This field is optional.
2.7) Your E-Mail:
The email address of your URL's Webmaster. You will be contacted only if there is an urgent concern regarding your URL.
3) Subpages
Please try to avoid entering multiple individual pages from the same site. Enter only the most common page of a site involving Techno.

For example: a private page collects discographies from 5 Labels. Do NOT enter all 5 Labels separately. Instead, enter the Overview, Index or Homepage to which the 5 Labels are linked. Then enter the Labels in the "Description" field so it is possible for users to run a search for them.

Rule of Thumb: the shorter the URL, the better. You will get a warning if there is already an entry from your domain. Test the given link to find out if your URL has already been entered.

Exceptions: on servers with a lot of private Homepages, like Geocities, AOL and T-Online, Pages from different users may be accepted as individual Links.

4) Complete Entries
Please fill in as many of the fields as possible. Don't forget your Nickname and E-mail address.
5) Vote Manipulation
If the logfiles for the voting mechanism show multiple votes cast from the same address, we reserve the right to exercise regulatory control. This may include, but is not limited to, setting the affected URL back to 1 point. Be fair! Don't overrate your own pages and please vote for other sites (positively or negatively).
6) Supervision:
All links will be electronically checked on a regular basis. If a URL can't be reached after several attempts, it will be sorted out "by hand".
If you have questions, suggestions, ideas, news, etc., please send them to links@techno.de.

Thank you!
