Biographie-De
Biographie-EnVela was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1971. During the late '80s and early '90s she played in a live band, participated in differnt avant gard performences (musical and theatrical) and organised some of the first independant electronic dance music events in Sofia in the early to mid '90s, which were a great success. It was only a matter of time before her love of music led her to start Dj-ing herself, and after a couple of years at art school in Bulgaria, in 1998 Vela moved to Berlin, Germany and very quickly established herself as a highly
respected key player in the local breaks scene. Most definatly a force to be reckoned with! In less than 2 years Vela had been regularly booked at all the major Berlin venues (Maria, ICON, Tresor, WMF, Polar TV, Casino, Bastard, Matrix etc... ) and in 2000 she was invited to headline a tour of Poland powered by VIVA TV, which took in the 5 biggest cities there and was by all accounts something of a phenomenon, Vela rocking the crowds big time with her no compromise full on Breaks sound. During this time she also held down a weekly residency at Berlin's so far one and only pirate radio station, Twen-FM, where she still plays weekly to this day as part of the "Femmes with Fatal Breaks" crew as the station prepares to start legal on air transmissions Berlin Wide. Vela has also notched up considerable TV and Radio experience in
Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Holland, UK and USA.

To date she has played out the length and breadth of Germany (taking in such events as Love Parade, Berlin - 4 years in a row, playing on a float during the Berlin Fuck Parade 2000 - an event which was subsequently outlawed, The Queens Jubilee at the British Council, amongst many others) and has been booked at such noteworthy international clubs and events as Zurich Street Parade, Chew the Fat, HUM and The House Of God. She has also played a big role in running what are arguably Germany's most pioneering and important regular breaks events, Dangerous Drums and The Femmes With Fatal Breaks. It was during one of her Femmes dates in Berlin that a visiting New York based promoter heard her and subsequently set about organising her Stateside debut.

As one half of the team that runs Dangerous Drums events and recordings, Vela has helped nurture and sustain one of continental Europe's longest running breaks showcases into its fifth year. As one of the 2 resident Djs there she has in the last 3 years played in USA (Los angeles, San Francisco, New York, San Antonio), UK (Birmingham, London, Bristol), Japan (Tokyo, Hiroshima, Ibaraki), Holland (Amsterdam, Utrecht, Nijmegen, Tilburg ), Poland (Sopot, Warszawa, Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan), Russia (Kaliningrad), Italy (Milan),
Switzerland (Zuerich, Bern, Bienne, Thun), Hungary (Budapest), Bulgaria (Sofia, Varna) ... Her debut releases on the Dangerous Drums label were very quickly picked up and charted by the likes of Dj Brownie (Rampant/L.A) and Loes Lee (Moving Target / Holland) the latter of which resulted in Vela being invited to release on Moving Target and bearing the fruit of the widely acclaimed "Irresistable" 12" which picked up top reviews and dj and sales chart placings all over the world and firmly established her name in the international breaks scene.
